just to broadcast that I am still alive...
1 week and 1 day post-Sep 4 earthquake in Christchurch.
still getting aftershocks, seems to be less (either smaller magnitude or I'm just ignoring what I think are quakes)...
however the ones that are felt are reasonably-sized.
this is just the most recent one, magnitude 3.9, some shaking involved:

this 4.5 one was also felt quite strongly:

I think the thought running through my mind is, what am I meant to do I do when there is an aftershock?
what I have done is just stop whatever I'm doing (most times), listen and feel how bad the shaking is, before deciding if I need to hide under something.
other than that, life goes on.
the past week brought about quite a bit of anxiety...
all the vibrations and rumbling sounds made me quite scared.
but as the week progressed, I kind of got used to it.
apart from the fact that the higher floors of the hospital Riverside building transmit the aftershocks pretty well, I survived post-earthquake in hospital.
people are hoping that things can go back to normal soon.
but what our pastor said this morning was so true...
- it's never going to go back to "normal" again.
- God wants to shift our normality.
- let God shake what needs to be shaken in your life, let Him bring the brick buildings down to make space for something new.
and so, it's pouring outside now.
time to get some rest, ready for the week ahead.
nothing is ever going to be the same again...
