fairy-tale story...

there was once a girl, and all she wanted was for her fairy-tale story to come true...that one day, her prince would arrive on a white stallion, and sweep her off her feet as though she truly was a princess worthy to be treasured by the one. was it too much to wish for?

everytime she looked around, she saw others with their fairy-tale stories coming true, and she would look away and sigh. sometimes when she couldn't handle it, she would be so jealous and want to scream in rage and lash out at the world. but all she could do was to bury her fiery emotions silently in her mind and in her heart...

she tried many times to make her dream come true; she searched in all sorts of places, she put on her best behaviour, and she even gave of herself without asking for much...but all of her efforts were in vain. failure after failure hit her, and it seemed like everything she did only made her long for her fairy-tale story even more...

she told herself to look on the bright side, "see, there are lots of other people who are still waiting for their fairy-tale stories to come true too...", but she just couldn't be convinced. the aching longing inside her grew day by day...

after a few attempts over the year, she thought it would be quiet for a bit while she recuperated from her wounds, but little did she know how much trouble she was capable of causing herself even though she was down, especially when she was at one of the lowest points in her life...

along came this one...she'd looked and seen, but hadn't done anything previously because of certain 'restrictions'. and now she was free to do what she liked. and the drama unfolded in her life once again, self-inflicted as always, but it ended in failure, again. one more setback...

and so, she was alone once more. she did think about laying low and just waiting, but the impatience in her couldn't be quelled so easily. she always had to do something. she wanted to know someone else cared...

she was jealous of those who got their happy endings, and she envied the other girls who managed to be patient. she was just not satisfied...which led to the question, WOULD she ever be satisfied even IF she got her fairy-tale story?

there is no "they-lived-happily-ever-after" to this story...not now...

maybe this girl just needs to give herself a reality check.
