was on Facebook tonight, and happened to come across a page created in memory of a girl who recently passed away. she was a young poly student, and about a week ago she leapt to her death from a block of flats in Singapore.
after scouting around for more information, there were mixed reactions from people, both positive and negative. seeing her photos in the album, one wouldn't guess she was battling suicidal thoughts. the beautiful smile, and all the comments about the impact she had on other people's lives...she was an angel.
there were blog posts from people who knew her and those who felt they knew her, and comments on those posts. people missing her, reminiscing the times they spent with her. and a snapshot of her own blog, which had been already deleted.
reading those last few entries she ever wrote, you could almost feel her anguish. and her mention of suicide and death. it must have been tough, feeling so alone. and her sister said how hard it was that no one, not even her family, could help her.
in the end, with no other choices she could fathom, I guess she chose death as her way of dealing with life...
it saddened me, the whole thing. only she would have known what went through her mind in those last few moments. did what her life mean not outweigh ending it? could such an angel harbour dark thoughts? I suppose it's true that one cannot judge a book by its cover, whatever it is.
because maybe I do know how she might have felt...it is never easy to be in that place.
why do we live in such a broken world?
