when you run your fingers across the edge of a piece of paper,
what happens?
you get a papercut, don't you?
when you accidentally bang your knee on the coffee table,
what happens?
you get a bruise, don't you?
but sometimes it's not just the physical part that hurts.
sometimes it's what's inside that hurts more.
what people say/don't say.
words carry so much meaning, more that we give credit for.
there's a saying that goes: "sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me".
I used to believe it, but I doubt it now.
because words can make or break somebody.
words can build up or tear down.
words can speak life or bring upon destruction.
sharp words can cut you, hurting as though you had a papercut.
unkind words bluntly thrown around can cause bruises, as if you banged something.
they say: "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin." (Proverbs 13:3)
I suppose I'm guilty of harsh words.
of causing cuts and bruises to others.
if I ever spoke in any way to hurt you,
I'm sorry.
everyone hurts a little.
but if all of us take a little more care in our words,
then our little bit of hurt will become even less.
won't the world be a better place then?

i play my part, you play yours. sometimes things are juz not within our control x) but at the end of the day, it's still how we choose to respond that affects us most (:
