may is here!

last day of O&G today! was supposed to wake up at 5am to work on my topic discussion but guess what? I got up at 6.30am!!! =S ended RUSHING through my preparation, writing down what I thought was important. at 7.50am I gobbled down my breakfast and made my lunch before heading out at 8.20am (which is really late to leave!).

BUT you know what? how muddle-headed I was! there were actually 2 groups presenting and my group was the 2nd group which didn't start till 10am!!! what the...I was like, ABCDEFG...almost wanted to swear (not really those bad words). lol. BUT I composed myself and headed over to the library to print out my articles.

we only started our presentation at 10.30am and we had another tutor come in to take us for the session. I was the first to go and I was quite pleased with my presentation!!! =D writing it down actually does help instead of typing it out. cos then I know what I want to say! effective method huh. (maybe that's why I should WRITE NOTES TO STUDY FOR EXAMS...)

presented on "fundal pressure in the second stage of labour". conclusion was that there is not enough evidence of benefit for its use to be routinely practiced, and what has been reported does not warrant fundal pressure to be used for the purpose of shortening the 2nd stage of labour.

I was quite glad I presented reasonably well. when my fellow colleagues presented theirs, we were all required to think of a question to ask them at the end. I managed to answer the questions on my topic, and I thought I did come up with a few good questions to ask others! I think I'm improving in doing more "processing" rather than just "absorbing" information. =P

so after that I sat down with my lunch and filled in my logbook with 7 antenatal visits, 4 births and 2 post-natal visits. after which I headed over to acute gynae assessment unit where I spent the next few hours reading my book/observing the going ons in the staff room. didn't get to see a patient all afternoon! those who came in needed rather rapid assessment so were seen by the house officer or the medical officer. oh well.

headed upstairs to find my tutor at 4pm cos I still had my gynae history I needed to get signed off. she was so nice to help me, taking time out from sorting out the course timetable for the next batch of students! I took a history from her as she acted as a patient, and I think I did okay, sounded quite confident though still a little hesitant. but I got that signed off, so that was good! =) thank you Dr Olliver!

headed back downstairs where in the next few hours I managed to see ONE patient. oh well! I didn't have anywhere else I needed to go to, nor anything I had to do, so just hung around till 8pm. left for Strawberry Fare after that, just a short cycle away in the nice cold air.

I had the White Chocolate Fantasy again...SO GOOD!!! all that white choc mousse...YUMMY. and that tower of biscuit...hee hee. goodie. felt so happy eating that, my reward for finishing my run! was with my cell group and we chatted quite a bit. all the medical professionals...seriously...heh. it's nice.

left after 10.30pm, and cycled home. and it had started to RAIN...meh. I don't really mind the cold cos I get warm after a while of cycling, but I didn't really like the wet bit. the back wheel churns up water...and I get uncomfortably wet...=S really need to either get mud guards or some sort of cover.

and now it's late! actually quite tired. gonna head off to bed. it's the WEEKEND tomorrow! hooray for breaks from school!

hmm...do I seem like an optimistic person to you?
hopeful where things might seem not going well?
that I handle stress in a cool and calm manner?
to me I don't quite see myself that way although I'd like to. but I suppose I can act pretty well. they say doctors are quite good actors. =)
