there wasn't really much point in my previous post.
anyway, right now I should be either:
a) SLEEPING,
b) revising my Psych notes, or
c) practising Psych OSCEs.
and NOT
d) online on Facebook.
final showdown in a few hours' time. all the 5 weeks' worth of talking and listening is going to be examined by 2 consultants. it's either a pass or a fail. bonus would be getting a potential distinction but I haven't been one who stood out.
somehow UNUSUALLY calm about the OSCE. HMM.
really appreciate my Seager Clinic/Hereford Centre registrar who is so passionate about teaching students. he gave us tips for LIFE, not just our OSCEs. some of the stuff he said:
- have life balance ie.enjoy and take time off for your personal life. don't give up your hobbies/interests especially not when you're students/junior docs!
- being a doctor is what you do, not who you are.
- when choosing a speciality, consider the 1.job, 2.people and 3.environment before you decide what you're going to do for the rest of your life.
- ALWAYS when entering ANY situation (including medical interviews), DON'T ASSUME THINGS. it'll get you into trouble if you make presumptions about things/people.
- don't be an optimist, you'll end up getting depressed cos bad stuff happens. don't be a pessimist, you'll not be able to live life at all. be a cynic, because if you've expected it, it's easier to deal with whatever comes your way.
thank you for imparting your knowledge to us!
righto. I should get some rest. took a nap in my flatmate's room just now cos was so, so exhausted. I still maintain that psych is really draining. am using too much brain power, 4 cups of tea can't even keep me awake. don't want to be addicted to caffeine...
